MONMOUTH COUNTY WORKERS COMPENSATION COURT

Freehold is the county seat of Monmouth. It is an area rich in colonial history with an important manufacturing base. This base employed many workers in diverse areas such as rug making and glassmaking. Also, the Battle of Monmouth is a key battle in the American Revolution. The battle took place on June 28, 1778, and included 25,000 soldiers combined in Continental, British, and Hessian forces.

Both American and British forces declared victory. The engagement demonstrated that the Continental soldiers fought valiantly for independence. The British were able to evacuate Loyalists from Philadelphia but at a great cost. Today, Monmouth Battlefield State Park provides recreational and educational opportunities. Further, Monmouth Junction is another important area of Monmouth County centrally located in major metropolitan areas.

The Voice of New Jersey Workers

Perhaps the most famous resident of Monmouth in the modern era is American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen. He is an iconic figure for the working class in New Jersey and beyond. His songs often resonate with the struggles that workers experience. These experiences range from inadequate wages to unsafe working conditions.

Born and raised in a working-class community in Monmouth County provided Springsteen with the lifelong ambition of putting workers’ stories into music. His lyrics have strong emotional undertones. Many New Jersey workers can relate to his music especially as the years in the workplace take their toll on body, mind, and spirit. In our era, Springsteen exemplifies the American work ethic. This work ethic continues unabated for many in Monmouth County well into the later years of life. He is a true son of Monmouth County, the State of New Jersey, and the entire United States of America. Like many other New Jersey cities, a strong manufacturing base in the late 1800s and early 1900s gave way to a more suburban family area. A good infrastructure helped workers to travel out of Monmouth to nearby Newark, Trenton, New York City, and Philadelphia.

Monmouth is a culturally diverse community with a strong influx of Spanish-speaking members. The total population is increasing over the last two decades. The largest industry in Monmouth County is health care. As a result, the Centrastate Healthcare system dominates medical services to Monmouth residents. Work injury lawyers in New Jersey often see workplace accidents arising in the health care industry. This is due to the physically demanding nature of the jobs. These jobs, though, are critical to providing a superior level of medical care to Monmouth County residents.
