LEBANON WORKERS COMPENSATION LAWYER

One of the most famous trials in history took place in Hunterdon County (Lebanon is a borough) at the courthouse in the county seat of Flemington. The trial began on January 3, 1935, and continued for five weeks. The case of Bruno Hauptmann, accused of murdering Charles Lindberg’s newborn son, caught the attention of Lebanon, Hunterdon County, and the world.

Many historians have questioned the fairness of the trial. The extensive press coverage of the proceeding may have influenced the jurors’ decision. Also, a handwritten phone number found on the wall in Hauptmann’s house matched the number of a John F. Condon, who served as a go between for Charles Lindbergh and people claiming to be the actual kidnappers. A reporter after the trial acknowledged that he was the source of the handwritten number.
To this day, there remains a scholarly divide whether due process of law prevailed or did the passion of the day sway the law to an unjust conclusion.
