NEW BRUNSWICK WORKERS COMPENSATION LAWYER

The City of New Brunswick is the county seat of Middlesex County. It is also the home of Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey. Rutgers is a major employer in Middlesex County. The Middlesex campus is a world-renowned and respected research university. Football is also a major part of life for students and graduates alike.

Rutgers also has the distinction of a comprehensive written policy on the reporting of workplace accidents. This policy sets forth the requirements for an injured University employee. The policy goal is to receive proper notification of any workplace accident. The notice must contain enough information for the University to follow reporting requirements. New Jersey Workers Compensation law sets forth the requirements.

The policy is part of the Risk Management and Insurance Policies section of the University Policy manual section 40.3.1 about work accidents and injuries reporting. The notice contains the contact information for a medical provider. The injured employee while on duty should contact the medical provider. And immediately after the accident occurs. A report is then filed with the Division of Workers Compensation in the State of New Jersey. The filing occurs via the Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau. The report is the First Report of Injury or Illness. The employee has a right to seek representation from an NJ workers compensation lawyer.

The Rutgers University work injury policy should serve as a template for employers throughout the State of New Jersey. Workers compensation is mandatory for all New Jersey employers. An employer provides the coverage in one of two formats. The first is an insurance policy issued from an approved insurance carrier in NJ. The second is an approval granted for self-insurance by the employer. Knowledge is power. The steps outlined in Section 40.3.1 of the University policy manual give needed guidance to an injured employee who suffered a work accident. The guidance is important on how to proceed under the NJ law of work accidents.
